Echoes of the past: Turkish, Venetian, and Greek
Ethnic diversity has long been the fabric of Greece’s cultural and linguistic heritage. This pop-up exhibition opens a window to the past, showing how five centuries of Venetian presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and Greek-Turkish cohabitation in present-day Turkey and Cyprus have left their mark on language and popular culture. The mixing of cultures is unveiled through posters, audio and videos of dialect speech, songs, dance and narratives from across recent Greek history as well as rare archival gramophone recordings.
The exhibition took place at the Hellenic Centre in London.
